Rome Total War: Playing as Another Faction?

Ive been playing as Pontus for a while and Im at a point now where its me and three Roman factions controlling almost all of the world and just britannia, spain, and parthia clinging on in the corners, will the Romans have a civil war and start fighting each other like when you play as a Roman faction, or will i have to defeat them all together?
