How do sitting congressmen or other office holders perform their duties while campaigning for the presidency?

This is not a question that anyone should take offense by. If a sitting office holder is the best option as president, then he/she should be. I just want to know how they can balance traveling the country trying to gain votes and doing their job in either the house serving their district or senate serving their state.
