What do you do when your friend gets too clingy?

i have a really good friend that i have known for 8 years but she calls me non stop, we are on the same swim team, and she and her little brother practically live with my family. i just dont know what to do because we both like the same guy but she always acts really weird around him and screams and yells that im a freak and i only see him @ swim meets when she is there too. she totally makes me look like a loser but she has always kinda been that weird. Also she hugs me all the time and someone asked if we were gay and were dating!! (not that i dont like gays, im just not one) shes really cling and when im with her it really annoys me that she is always ther but i dont want to be mean. what should i do??
